BASIL CHAMBERS & THE LANDMARK

Basil Chambers is named after the Late BASIL DAVID, who purchased the Building in 1963.

The area now known as NORTHERN QUARTER, was associated with many Textile Companies until the mid 1980's. There was then a gradual move by the few surviving Importers & Clothing Wholesalers to Stephenson Square and the Cheetham Hill area's of Manchester.

Many Buildings in the Northern Quarter were left unoccupied for a number of years and then in the early 1990's a refurbishment of several Buildings started the transformation of the Northern Quarter from a run down area to one of the TRENDIEST places to Work and Live, within the City of Manchester.

Whilst most Landlords were turning their Buildings into Apartments, it was decided that there was still a requirement for OFFICES in the Northern Quarter and THE LANDMARK (1st - 4th Floors) was refurbished in 1994 and turned into Office Suites. With Trendy Bars showing an interest in moving into the Northern Quarter, it was decided to design the Ground Floor & Basement with this in mind. We were very happy when THE WALRUS BAR opened in December 2007 and this is already regarded as being one of the best Bars in the Northern Quarter.

As a result of the high number of Apartments in the Northern Quarter, we were very pleased when King Sturge (Estate Agents) entered into taking a Lease on the Ground Floor High Street elevation in March 2008.

When the Offices (1st - 6th Floors) in BASIL CHAMBERS were vacated by JO-Y-JO LTD (soul tenant) in 2003, it was decided that the Offices should be fully refurbished and the conversion was completed during 2006.

To complete the refurbishment, the Ground Floor Reception/Lobby area also had a face lift in early 2007. The 4th Floor boasts beautiful WOODEN BEAMS and gives the appearance of being a Large LOFT APARTMENT.

Careful consideration was given to the 'look' of the Offices, as it was decided that we would like to attract 'YOUNG' CREATIVE & DESIGN type COMPANIES.

Instead of having a Clinical look throughout the Offices, we decided to add Aluminium Trays at Ceiling height for Cabling etc. which has certainly worked well.

As BASIL CHAMBERS is in a very prominent position on High Street, it very quickly attracted Companies/Tenants within the CREATIVE, CLOTHING & CONSTRUCTION Industries.

Both BASIL CHAMBERS & THE LANDMARK are situated in PRIME POSITIONS, with the VERY BEST access in the City Centre for:
